FAQs With so many wedding professionals and photographers out there, the wedding planning process can be overwhelming and time consuming. Trying to decide on a photographer can be the most difficult part of the process especially If you have never hired a photographer before. Hopefully I can save you some time and give you an edge when shopping for wedding photography with these FAQ's Q... How do I make the right choice for me when it comes to picking my wedding photographer? A....First, I would say personality, is this person easy to talk to? Does he or she have your best interest at heart? Do they understand your vision, your thoughts and ideas? Do you feel a connection with this person? I would also look for knowledge, do they have the right experience and background in their field? Can they help you plan your day? Can they talk about their expriences of what works and does not on wedding day. Do they have a concept or plan of what they are looking for? In other words are they just running around with cameras or do they have specific style of working? Do they have the right skill level to execute what it is your looking for? Do they have examples on their website for reference? Can they tell you how or why they made the images you like. Again this comes back to style, concept and experience. Finally I would look for professionalism. Do they dress and carry themselves professionally? Would you feel comfortable with them at your wedding?Do you think they would be a good fit with your family and friends ? How long does it take them to respond to emails and phone calls? In conclusion if he or she has a great personality, extensive knowledge in the field, a high skill level and is very professional you've made the right choice:) Q.... Does Kevin York Photography offer Hi-res digital proofs with no watermarks and full rights? How will I receive my Hi-res digital proofs? A... Yes we do and typically they are included with your package. You have a personal usage license. You may use them for anything personal but may not sell them. You will receive your Hi-res proofs on a jump drive or flash drive in a really cool little wooden box:) Q....Can I use the Hi-res digital proofs to make my wedding and parent albums? A....Yes you can, but beware of the amount of work you might be creating! We do albums all the time so we have a work flow. Unless you are a graphic artist this will be your first time around. You may make two or three books until you get it to look good enough,or maybe you make none at all. Not to mention you need to edit down to 60 or so images from 1000 is not easy and can be extremely time consuming without the correct editing software or powerful computer processors and hard drives. These are Hi-res images(36-125 mg files) and your computer may not be able to handle the load? Another thing to think about is when we are making your album we are looking at each image and deciding if it makes sense to use, does it flow with the rest of the images in the spread or page. Also we may want to do more retouching or manipulate an image now that it is being printed to a book. The biggest problem we see with folks wanting to make their own albums is in many situations the Hi-res proofs get lost. In the daily shuffle of life, stuff happens. You relocate, have children, and/or simply don’t have the time. The images that were going to be printed or made into an album are forgotten. I'm happy to offer Hi-res proofs but if you think you want an album or prints please think about doing this with Kevin York Photography who will provide you with a great quaility product without the hassle of you doing this on your own? Q.....How many photographers will be at my wedding ? A.....There are always two photographers at your wedding and sometimes three depending on the requirements of your day. Q......When should I book my photographer? A.......Typically we book six months to a year out from a couples wedding date. My advice is if you find one that meets all your requirements then thats the right choice, book'em! Q......Will Kevin York Photography help me plan my day? A.......Yes, you will have no worries about when and where we will be doing photos.Together we will create an itinerary based on the information you provide us about your day through our wedding day questionnaire. Q.......Some of my friends have done engagement photos. They say it's a good idea to work with your photographer before the wedding, but my fiancé and I don't think we need this? A.......You don't need it, but it is a good idea especially if it comes with your package at no extra charge. I offer to all my clients a complimentary engagement session for booking with me if they come to my location on a weekday. Working with your photographer before your wedding day insures you will have great images. Please understand I have worked with many couples I never met until wedding day and their images were spectacular! But the more prepared we are for your day the better. There is a comfort level in knowing that you've worked with this photographer and you know what your getting. Q.....If we decide to do an engagement session and it's not at your location or we can only do it on a weekend, what is your policy? A.....If it's not at my location or a weekend shoot there will be a fee, unless other arrangements have been made prior to the session. That fee would depend on where and when we shoot. For example fees would be different if we are doing Central park NYC vs Fairmount park Philadelphia. Typically a weekend or other Philly area location shoot is $300.
